Assembly & Integration of a Service Module Fairing Installation Tool
At EMF we specialize in the engineering, fabrication, and installation of precision components and assemblies used in the aerospace industry. The assembly highlighted here is used to install service module fairings at Florida’s Kennedy Space Center. The completed assembly measures 11′ in length, 17′ in width, 18′ in height, and weighs 11,000 lbs. We machined and fabricated all of the components for this project. Our machining and fabrication abilities are unique since EMF produces precision components as small as a coin as well as large, complex assemblies.
After fabrication, functionality and proof-load testing were performed at the sub-assembly and full assembly level. The assembly was then moved and installed in the client’s facility then integrated into their existing equipment. A number of MSFC NASA technical standards as well as ASME, AWS, and Mil-Spec specifications were met in the fabrication and testing of this assembly.
